You’re inviting a cleaning solution onto your property, and you want to know it won’t wreck your landscaping or put your dog and kids at risk. Short answer: yes, when it’s done right, our house washing process is safe for your plants, pets, and family. Here’s exactly why, and where the real limits are.

What’s Actually in the Cleaning Solution

Our house-wash solution is a diluted, bleach-based cleaner – sodium hypochlorite mixed down to a low concentration, generally in the range used industry-wide for soft washing. For comparison, that’s a similar or lower strength than a lot of household bleach cleaning products already under your kitchen sink. It’s not a harsh industrial chemical; it’s a controlled, low-concentration mix designed to kill algae, mold, and mildew on your siding without needing high pressure that could damage your home. More importantly, sodium hypochlorite doesn’t linger. Once it’s applied and exposed to sunlight and air, it breaks down within hours into water, oxygen, and a trace of salt. It doesn’t sit in your soil or on your plants as a lasting residue – it does its job and then it’s gone.

How We Protect Your Landscaping

We don’t just spray and hope for the best. Before we apply anything, we pre-soak your plants, shrubs, and flower beds near the house with plain water. That water barrier is what keeps the cleaning solution from soaking into the soil or plant tissue. We keep everything wet throughout the application, then rinse the area again afterward to clear any solution off leaves and mulch. If we’re doing a roof wash, we’ll also manage downspouts and gutters – sometimes bagging or diverting them away from garden beds so runoff doesn’t concentrate in one spot.

Keeping Kids and Pets Safe

Keep kids and pets off any surface we’re actively treating. After we finish, we recommend keeping them off the treated area and away from the work zone for 4 to 8 hours so the cleaning solution has time to fully break down. The Honest Limitation

We’ll be straight with you: flower petals are more sensitive than leaves, stems, or grass. Even with correct dilution and full precautions, some flowers can occasionally show light burn or discoloration on the petals themselves. This isn’t a sign we did something wrong – it’s just a known limitation of how delicate petal tissue reacts to any cleaning solution, no matter how diluted or careful the application.
